192.168.1.1 belongs to the default class C IP address range which is reserved for the private IPs. This range can be used by organizations to set up their personal network or home network.

This is the first valid IP address that can be assigned to the network device in the default class C subnet; this is the reason that the 192.168.1.1 IP address is widely used by vendors as a default router IP address.

The default subnet mask of this IP address is 255.255.255.0 so while configuring this IP address on the device; we have to use this subnet mask.

1. Routers IP is given with the manuals that come with the router. You will find all the details about the routers including the default IP assigned and password.

2. If manuals are not available, you can find this information on the device box or something mentioned on the device itself to check the device properly for these details.

3. If your router is connected to the computer then you can use the command Ipconfig/all on your connected PC, this command will show lots of details which includes the default gateway. The default gateway is the IP address of the router.

You can connect your computer to the router using the Ethernet port. Once your PC is connected, it will be assigned the IP address from the router. We can access the setup page of the router and check the default IP and password configured for the Wifi connection.

  • Restart your router; it may be possible that you are doing everything right however still there is a login issue due to router malfunction.Sometimes devices may have performance issues so they don’t work as expected. Restarting the router can fix the problem.
  • Make sure that you are entering the appropriate IP addresses. IP addresses like 192.168.l.l, 192/168.1.1, 192.168.l.0.1, etc are not valid. IP addresses contain only numeric values so enter the IP address carefully.
  • Use the proper link format, any mistake in the link format will prevent you from accessing the page.
